Track and field teams transition from indoor to outdoor season with first action starting on March 23

The Goshen men's and women's track and field teams are transitioning from the indoor to the outdoor season as they strive to send another crew to the NAIA National Championships in May.

The Maple Leafs were represented at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships for a 25th consecutive year when they competed in Brookings, South Dakota, last weekend. With qualifiers in ten events, it was the fifth year in a row that Goshen had more national entries than the previous year. Nelson Kemboi was named an All-American for his sixth-place finish in the men's 3,000 meters.

Last season, Goshen sent four student-athletes to the outdoor national championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This year the championships are hosted much closer - in Marion, Indiana, at the home of Indiana Wesleyan University. The championships are from May 24-26 and will be hosted by IWU through the 2025 season with an option for the 2026 season.

Goshen begins the season with only jumpers and throwers competing at Bethel on March 23. On March 25, the teams travel to Cedarville, Ohio, to compete in the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open at Cedarville University. Then on March 30 and 31, they are at the Marian University Invite for the first two-day meet of the season.

After a week off, the Maple Leafs compete at the Don Kleinow Invitational hosted by Siena Heights University. The following weekend they are at the Indiana Little State Championships at IWU. The final meet before the Crossroads League Championships is the Lancer Invitational on April 28. The league meet is on May 4-5 and will be hosted by Marian in Indianapolis.

The Maple Leafs will send any athletes close to qualifying for a spot in nationals to a "last chance" meet at either St. Francis (Ill.) or Indiana Wesleyan from May 12-13.
